The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) confirmed on 26 July the delivery of a 777-200LR (Longer Range) Worldliner aircraft to India-based Air India, the first of the 68 aircraft order placed in December 2005.

The Indian airline plans to use its new aircraft to become the first airline to offer direct, non-stop services between India and the USA, with the maiden flight expected on 1 August 2007 from Mumbai to New York.
