RFID Journal LIVE! Canada Launch a Great Success

RFID Journal in partnership with EPCglobal Canada holds first RFID conference and exhibition for the Canadian market.

TORONTO, ON (PRWEB) November 20, 2006 — RFID Journal LIVE! Canada, the inaugural annual radio frequency identification (RFID) conference and exhibition for the Canadian market, launched successfully on November 8-9, 2006 at the Toronto Congress Centre, a sign that this emergent technology has the interest of Canadian industry.

The event was hosted by RFID Journal, the worlds leading RFID media and events company, and EPCglobal Canada, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GS1 Canada, the not-for-profit, industry-led GS1 member organization that promotes and maintains global standards for the identification of goods.

“The event attracted more than 300 attendees who received an in-depth understanding of what can be accomplished with RFID,” said Mark Roberti, founder and editor, RFID Journal. “Participants will go back to their companies and spend the time and effort to develop a firm grasp of where RFID technology can deliver value to their businesses. When theyve addressed all the technical and business issues associated with an RFID application, they will roll it out and reap the rewards.”

RFID Journal LIVE! Canada featured early adopters who shared their experiences, as well as speakers from such market leaders as Wal-Mart Canada Corp., Loblaw Companies Limited, STAPLES Business Depot (Canada), Boeing Commercial Airplanes and the International Air Transportation Association (IATA). This event provided timely educational information for the Canadian market, given that Wal-Mart Canada Corp. and Loblaw Companies Limited have recently asked their leading suppliers to participate in Electronic Product Code”/Radio Frequency Identification (EPC/RFID) technology pilots and rollouts, respectively.

“We are very pleased with our partnership with RFID Journal,” said Art Smith, president and CEO, EPCglobal Canada. “The success of RFID Journal LIVE! Canada demonstrates that the Canadian market recognizes the many benefits of using EPC/RFID technology in retail, manufacturing, supply chain and other operations.”

The conference brought together leading end users, systems integrators, consultants and vendors to address critical EPC/RFID adoption issues in a highly interactive and collaborative setting. Attendees received critical insights about how EPC/RFID technology works and why it has been proven to increase supply chain efficiency.

The 2nd Annual RFID Journal LIVE! Canada will be held on November 26-28, 2007 at the Toronto Congress Centre and the 5th Annual RFID Journal LIVE! 2007 Conference and Exhibition will be held on April 30-May 2, 2007 in Orlando, Florida.

The Steps to Globalization

The steps to globalization lead the way towards a global organization..the same applies to our GBU also..in my opinion, for a global comapny but there’s a lot more to be done to achieve the global status…
a company needs to go up the globalization pyramid so as to become a truly global company…
[the pyramid something like the one given below]

globalization^

[own manufacturing & branding]^

global marketing^

international marketing^

Acquisitions^

JV^

agent based^

export^

this is the way companies have gone global..& truly have they become global players..talk about Siemens, GE, Philips, Boeing, Daimler Benz, Ford, Toyota..etc.all have followed the same path..

the challenge lies in going global because the threshold required for jumping to the next level is high as the risk & investment associated is also high. But one thing is clear that one can never achieve a global status by not taking any risk.all the global companies have taken the risk at the time it required, & those which didnt ..have vanished or have become smaller than what they were before.

risks of not becoming global:

1. dependence on others business performance

2. opportuinity loss

3. not be able to differentiate ourselves
