Euro So Beautiful
The euro hit a record high against the dollar. Jurgen Reinhoudt says this is good for the prestige of Europe, but not so good for its economy:
If the Euro eclipses the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency, the value of the Euro could appreciate still further, making European exports even more expensive than they are now (in addition to causing severe troubles for the United States). In French political terms, this would be a highly undesirable development given that ?an exchange rate of $1.40 would endanger? the survival of Airbus. As Airbus struggles ?to meet $220bn of dollar contracts from an operation with euro labour costs,? the heat is on. No French political leader would tolerate Airbus going bankrupt, certainly not if a bankruptcy were caused by a European exchange rate considered to be abnormally high.
But a Euro worth more than $1.40 (or even $1.50) would not just be problematic for Airbus or French exporters. True, Germany and countries that are economically closely linked to it (such as the Netherlands) have the ability to withstand the pressure of an expensive Euro, but France, Spain, and Italy do not.
A Euro worth more than $1.40 would cause significant difficulties for Mediterranean countries in general”potentially re-launching the political debate over the mandate of the European Central Bank, something that both Sarkozy and Royal have hinted at.
Unlike the American Fed, which has as a goal to keep growth high, unemployment low, and inflation low, the task of the European Central Bank is simply to keep inflation low, even if this adversely affects economic growth. If European growth were to falter and the Euro were to rise even further in value, many politicians from Southern Europe and France will put heavy pressure on the ECB to lower interest rates. This would lower the value of the Euro but also lead to higher inflation, the mortal enemy of the ECB. It would have all the makings of a fascinating financial feud.
The discomfort brought about by the Euro?s ?low? value to the dollar was mostly a matter of prestige. Now that the Euro is worth far more than the dollar and still rising in prestige (and value), its value is becoming a matter of tangible economic and political concern. Stay tuned.

Airbus Embellishes Jet Orders Every Year to Keep Up with The Boeing Company

Although lately Airbus has chilled out a little on the embellishment of the orders given to it by both Corporate and Government Airlines or Government Agencies it seems the practice of counting your chicken before they hatch with bird flu is alive and well in the European Union with Airbus Company.

You know I have a problem with Airbus and their claim of orders taken for new jet airlines. It claimed in Farnborough World 2000 Airshow, that it had sold 12 A330s (about 33 Billion Dollars if it were real) and none of them ever were built and no substantial deposits were taken, is this a kind of Proforma type hype to move the markets. What is the difference, it is still a lie. Why is this bad?

Well, it hurts Boeing’s stock, who has to tell the truth and yet our government does not go after Airbus as they lie like a rug? What a complete double standard we have, but if Boeing did that they would be on them in 2 seconds like flys on mad cow dung. (This is an excellent analogy considering those agencies).

We saw the EU block the Honeywell GE deal, yet we do not attack foreign competitors who sell in our market. They attacked Microsoft and Wal-Mart. Why do you think so many companies are Canadian Based now? We are driving away the best companies in the world and then we never call a spade a spade when it comes to foreign competitors playing games and lying. Then as we attack our companies the EU goes and does the same thing pretending they are some how justified, after all if our regulatory bodies went after them it must be okay right? Well now, take a look at Daewoo, I can name at least 15 major Worldwide companies based elsewhere and what did we do to them, when these companies sell major numbers of units and derive much of their profits here.

Can Airbus Survive?

Apparently Airbus is having a very tough time competing in the world free market against Boeing, as it is getting slaughtered this year by a three to one margin in aircraft orders. At Farnsborough Airbus did not do well and that they are also looking at the cancellation of nearly 10 eight 380 Airbus super airliners.

Airbus in their need to be going for the largest aircraft decided to build the super whopper A380 and aircraft one could say would be a great opportunity for an international terrorists strike, as he can hold up to a thousand people. With all these major setbacks and extreme debt in her best is looking to be bailed out again by the European Union.

This just shows that free enterprise and free markets with real competition for world markets makes the most efficient and competitive companies on earth. What is Airbus doing now, well now they are trying to copy Boeings Dreamliner concept, because airlines are looking for more efficient aircraft, which are lighter and get better economy. It is hard for an airline to make money with an aircraft that holds nearly 1000 people. If the airliner is not full the cost to run that airliner make things extremely difficult.
