Demand boosts Boeing forecast
Boeing raised its 20-year forecast for world jetliner deliveries by 5.2 percent because of demand from Asian and Russian airlines. Plane makers will deliver about 28 600 jets in the period compared with the 27 200 Boeing predicted last year.

Futura International Airways orders Boeing 737s

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Futura International Airways, a Spanish charter airline, have revealed an order for three Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s and three purchase rights.

According to Boeing, the order for three aircraft is valued at approximately USD210m at list prices. The carrier has said that the aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery in 2009 and 2010, are intended for fleet expansion.

Airbus requests removal of Boeing lawyers

European aircraft maker Airbus has requested the removal of competitor Boeing’s lawyers from World Trade Organisation deliberations on aircraft subsidies.

Airbus reportedly asked a United States court to remove Boeing’s lawyers, saying that one of the partners of the law firm has inside knowledge of its own strategy. Airbus’ motion to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia said that Marco Bronckers, a partner in the Brussels office of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, used to be an Airbus lawyer. The company claimed that Bronckers’ former position gave him inside knowledge of Airbus’ strategy, The Associated Press reported. The company also said that this is a conflict of interest under DC bar rules.

According to Airbus spokesman Clay McConnell, the named lawyer had a key role developing its strategy for the WTO conflict. In response the affected law firm said the Airbus claims are unjustified.
