Boeing likely to launch stretched version of 747

Boeing may launch a stretched version of its 747 jumbo jet soon as the proposal has caught the interest of several airlines.

According to Randy Baseler, vice president for marketing of Boeing’s commercial aircraft, a number of airlines are very interested in the stretched version of the aircraft. Baseler also said the company hopes to have something soon on the official launch of the aircraft, Reuters reported.

GOL takes delivery of Boeing 737

Brazil’s GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes (NYSE: GOL) has taken delivery of its 39th Boeing 737 aircraft.

The airline said that the delivery allows it to reach a frequency of 400 daily flights, and with the arrival of this aircraft GOL has added a total of 12 aircraft to its fleet this year, representing a 45% increase. The growth of GOL’s fleet in 2005 has allowed the airline to gradually increase the number of seats it can offer to travellers.

Boeing receives order from International Lease Finance Corp

Boeing has won an order for 20 Boeing 787 aircraft from International Lease Finance Corp (ILFC).

ILFC is reportedly the first major leasing company to order the new aircraft model and the order has an estimated value of USD2.4bn.

The leasing company, which is a unit of American International Group Inc, completed the agreement with Boeing late last week but had asked the orders not to be listed for the company on Boeing’s website, The Wall Street Journal reported.
