Boeing finalises Xiamen Airlines deal for 737s
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co has revealed that a deal with Chinese carrier Xiamen Airlines, to order 10 of its 737-800 aircraft, has been completed.
Boeing said the deal set a record for aircraft sales and confirmed it has sold 6,025 of its 737 model, including the Xiamen order, more than for any other commercial aircraft.
The order is part of a commitment to 70 aircraft that carriers in China made during President George W. Bush’s visit to the country last month, but has only recently been finalised. The order is expected to be worth between USD635m and USD720m at list prices, although a substantial discount is usually sought by airlines.
The delivery of the aircraft to Xiamen, which is jointly owned by Xiamen C&D Corp Ltd and China Southern Airlines Co Ltd, is due to take place between the middle of 2006 and 2007.
