Hamilton Sundstrand completes first engine test for Boeing 787 Dreamliner APU

Hamilton Sundstrand, a unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX), has successfully completed its first engine test of the APS 5000 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The company said that this first test was performed on 31 October at the Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems facility in San Diego. Hamilton Sundstrand was reportedly chosen by Boeing to provide a wide array of systems for the 787 and expects the programme to generate more than USD8bn in revenues over its duration.
