Ungerichtete Funkfeuer (non-directional beacons, NDBs) sind die ältesten elektronischen Navigationshilfen, die heute noch in Betrieb sind. Sie arbeiten im Frequenzbereich von 200
bis 400 kHz. Ihr Vorteil ist, daß sie kostengünstig zu installieren und zu betreiben sind, so daß NDB gestützte Instrumentenanflüge häufig an relativ kleinen Flugplätzen anzutreffen sind, an denen keine anderen Anlagen für Instrumentenlandungen zur Verfügung stehen. Wie der Name schon sagt, strahlen NDBs ihr Signal in alle Richtungen ab.
