Two used Boeing 747-400 aircraft have been purchased by Oasis Hong Kong Airlines in an agreement worth USD100m.

The airline’s chief executive, Stephen Miller, reportedly stated that the carrier will launch non-stop flights between Hong Kong and London’s Gatwick Airport by the end of September 2006.

The aircraft, which will be delivered to Oasis in July, were purchased from Deucalion Capital, a unit of Germany’s DVB Bank AG. They first entered service in 1989 with Singapore Airlines Ltd, The Associated Press reported.

Both aircraft are scheduled to go through a maintenance overhaul before going in to service. They will also be fitted with new cabins.
