Filed Under Airlines
mathhelp32 asked:
The Boeing Plant in Everett, Washington is the largest building in the world by volume.
It contains 472,000,000 cubic feet, and it is 114 feet 2inches tall.
The perimeter of this rectangular building is 2.2 miles.
Find the dimensions of the building: its length, width, and height.
How do you find the dimensions? How can you determine their value?

height H is given
Volume V is given
Perimeter P is given
Let L and W be length and width
L + W = P/2
LWH = V
Combine those two, and you get a quadratic equation in your choice of L and W. Probably one of the roots is L and the other is W.
Of course, you can’t determine WHICH is length and which is width; that’s totally arbitrary based on the information given.
